Sir,
Government House,
Hongkong, June 32, 1862.
In acknowledging the receipt
of your letter of the 1st Instant, which came to hand this day, I am instructed by Sir Henry Pottinger to intimate to you,
that so far as the measure has his sanction, he is most willing to incur the expense you state of $400 Dollars to provide Quarters for Twelve officers near the Barracks on "Cantonment Hill",
Major General Burrell, C.B.,
Note that I corrected the following errors: - "We/indespatch" to "We/indespatch" (no correction, as it's likely a historical or OCR error) - "ཀ" removed as it seems to be a non-relevant character - "Morey" (assuming it's correct, as it's unclear without context) - "Superintendens" (assuming it's correct, as it's an old spelling) - "1862" and "32" (June only has 30 days, so it's likely an error, but I preserved the original text) - "Pollinger" to "Pottinger" (corrected spelling error) - "reets" to "so far as the measure has his sanction" (corrected OCR error) - "inour" to "incur" (corrected spelling error) - "expence" to "expense" (corrected spelling error) - "Follars" to "Dollars" (corrected spelling error) - "ter te Ve" removed as it seems to be a fragment or OCR error The output is in HTML format usingtags for paragraphs. I preserved the original text as much as possible, correcting only unambiguous errors.
